I don't recall this ever happening when I was in elementary school but it is a thing now. I have to say that I am so happy because my little peanut's birthday is at the very end of summer. It is so rare for any of her school friends to come to her birthday party so this makes u for it.
One of Zoey's swim team mate's mother's posted about Vanilla Unicorn Sugar Cookie Bars she made for her daughters birthday a month ago and I immediately said "ZOEY HAS TO HAVE THESE!"
I sent the link to Zoey's teacher, Mrs. Mawhinney, asking if it was OK to send these in. She immediately said "YES, they look delicious!" I thought so too! Although, just looking at these makes me feel like I'm in a diabetic coma.
Finished product!
BTW, when does the peace signs in every picture phase end?
Anyone who knows Zoey, or has heard stories about Zoey, knows that my little girl is all about cupcakes, rainbows, and unicorns! Now the funny thing is she has no unicorn decorations in her room, tons of horses...but no unicorns...Zoey is as girlie as it gets! I have no doubt she is going to continue to be "CUPCAKES & RAINBOWS" her entire life!
Back to the cookies.......hello!
As soon as Chuck heard me say "I'm going to make cookies" he stopped playing some game and came running up the stairs insisting that he be the one to use the mixer. SERIOUSLY! We received this Kitchen Aid mixer as a Bridal Shower gift 14 years ago and I don't think I have used it myself but maybe 5 times. He insists on being the one to do all the mixing.
Now, on the plus side, that means that he also has to clean it! I will say this, Chuck does 99.9% of all the dishes in the house and I LOVE IT! Since this happens, if the man wants to be in charge of the mixer I say "HAVE ATCHA!!!!!!!!!!!" I'm all for it!
Back to the unicorn whatevers......Zoey was supposed to help make these but Daddy was having WAAAAYYY too much fun himself. So Zoey, in true Zoey fashion, skipped away singing something unintelligible to the rest of us and went to play with her horses. We actually had to ask her to close her door or stop singing. Do you remember the "Calgon take me away...." commercials. I might need that. Of course it smells, so it would be yucky for me but the thought it there!
These are super easy to make and Zoey would have really enjoyed spreading on the icing......it can be tricky and don't make the icing too early or it will harden slightly on top. No worries though, just stir is up before plopping it down.
Zoey got to sprinkle on the "sprinkles" onto the icing and had a fun time doing so. I wish I would have had more sprinkles....next time!
Chuck was able to cut these beauties into 24 squarish pieces for her classmates.
I can't wait to hear about Zoey's adventures getting these cookies to school and how her classmates and teacher liked them. She's so excited and kept trying to "steal" one. LOL!
We may be making these for her skating birthday party at the end of the summer!
