However, the little victories are what is going to make it worth while! There were many victories yesterday!
While doing some research, I came across this image and "said what a unique looking flamingo". And then I looked closer and closer still. I am amazed by this photo; the artistry to complete this is beyond words to me. How can a person put themselves in this position and then hold it for photos? It's simply breathtaking!
Wednesday, February 7, 2018, was Day 2 of changing myself for the better. Since I left work early to go to the dr's with Mary I didn't post a lot in MFP notes.
Day 2 - I lost 1.2 lbs since Tuesday. I'm sure that has a lot to do with drinking ridiculous amounts of water and not eating until lunch. It's all good though because I feel a bit better today.
I'm trying a new breakfast item. We'll see if I like it. If not, it might just be better to skip breakfast all together every day. We'll see!
OK, breakfast was absolutely gross! I spit out the first bite and could not bring myself to try anymore.
The whole drive to Voorhees yesterday I was tested, over and over and over again! I was craving a Boston Creme donut. The Dunkin' Donuts signs were everywhere and the stores were literally appearing out of thin air. Do you know how many Dunkin' Donuts I passed yesterday? Just on the way up we passed not one, not two, not even three, but EIGHT Dunkin' Donuts stores! Guess what happened on the way back? We passed those same dam taunting stores again! I thought I was going to get the shakes just driving by, but I held my ground....with Mary and the car's help! VICTORY #1!
Mary and I stopped at the Silver Coin Diner on the way home. I was leery about how I was going to do eating out so early in this new life style. But no one will tell you that I ever do things the easy way. I constantly test myself, so why should Day 2 be any different. I managed to order a dinner that was low in carbs and healthy for me. I got French Onion soup sans bread and a Tuscan Chicken Caesar salad without croutons. I also got the dressing on the side.
VICTORY #2!
As you see by this wonderful eye chart above I stayed within my calories and although I went over my projected carb count by 10 net carbs I feel there will be good news on the scale. And the scale did not disappoint this morning! I'm down another 1.4 lbs from yesterday, bringing my total to 2.6 lbs lost. VICTORY #3!
As requested by the doctor I have increased my Glucophage to 4 per day. It's only been a couple days but I'm already seeing a difference in my fasting blood sugars! I was in the high 150s and low 160s in the morning. For me, I should be between 95 and 105; the Doctor would love to see me between 90 and 99 fasting. This morning......drum roll please.....I was at 137! This is VICTORY #4!
This is a great victory for me. I haven't had a fasting sugar that low in quite some time. I'll take that 20+ point drop and do my happy dance!
What's in store for me today? More of the same eating.....I'm trying to get myself into Ketosis. It takes a few days and I'm on my way there.
I plan to do a run/walk tonight on the treadmill with the heart rate monitor on. I need to keep track of how things are going.
And to celebrate Valentine's Day (early) and to celebrate my father's legacy, as he passed on Valentine's Day, I'm running the Cupid's Arrow 5K tonight.
Here's to a great day!
