A day for Jesse and I ...just the two of us

As my first day of work with Metron approaches (now that maternity leave is over) I decided to spend a full day with just Jesse and I. And since his birthday is this Saturday I thought today was as good a day as any.

We started out with Jesse acting like a baby wanting me to dress him this morning. And I thought "Oh boy, it's gonna be a long day!" After we dropped Zoey off at daycare Jesse and I headed back home to have breakfast. We made me a protein shake (and I do mean "we"). Jesse likes to help me make a protein shake every morning. He helps pour everything into the blender and then he pushes the buttons.

After breakfast we went into the basement and played with his toys. Well Jesse played and I started sorting his toys to weed out the broken ones and the ones he doesn't play with any more (we're donating them to daycare).

Then it was time to head out shopping! We stopped first at Party City for his birthday balloons. Now I thought he was going to get the Lightning McQueen balloon or the Buzz/Woody balloon but to my surprise he asked for the giant Mickey Mouse (head only) balloon. No matter what new movie comes out and how much he likes it he still LOVES Mickey Mouse the most! =) Then Jesse asked for 3 red balloons. He had to have three of them! LOL! While we were waiting for the balloons Jesse said he needed party hats for his pizza party at school (tomorrow). So of course he said it in such a cute way that I caved and bought them.

Look at those balloons! He picked them all out!

Earlier in the week Jesse received a card from Geoffrey (Toys R us Giraffe) with a gift card for $3.00. So off to Toys R Us we went for him to spend his $3. He was quite sure that he was NOT going to sit in the shopping cart, so I let him walk through the store looking at everything. After he played with a few toys in one aisle he would say (tapping his pointer finger on his cheek) "now which way should be go? I know mommy, let's go this way". And off he would go to the next aisle. He settled on an airplane that can also be used int he tub. At no surprise I needed to chip in an extra $5.

Now we were off to the mall to get his birthday pictures taken. So here I am walking into the mall with Jesse in the stroller, the birthday balloons, his "Zippy Scooter" (toy story scooter we gave him early for his birthday), a bag of snacks and spare clothes. And of course it was a bit windy and the balloons kept hitting me in the head. LOL!

Trying to take a toddler to the bathroom with all of that was quite an ordeal, but we made it with no incidents.

Since we arrived at the mall early and nothing else to do but walk around Jesse directed us to the Build a Bear shop. Where he got a sticker that looked like an award/winning ribbon (with ribbons hanging off of it). The lady wrote his name on it and that it was his 3rd birthday. He made a bear, picked out the clothes, and dressed it himself (with a little help from mommy). The bear's name is Jay!

As we were walking out of Build a Bear there were several people setting up the Santa Clause area behind the elevator. Jesse spotted an older gentlemen that resembled Santa. Jesse is just staring at him trying to figure it out, the man noticed what Jesse was doing and smiled at him. Jesse says "Look mommy! It's Santa Claus!" I giggled a bit and said "yes Jesse it is, he's always watching you need to be a good boy". Jesse says "Yes mommy!" and then yells over to the gentleman "Hi Santa, Hi!" And so they traded many waves and smiles before Jesse finally turned around to watch where he was going.

Then it was off to Picture People for his birthday pictures. Thanks so much to Colleen for making this the best experience at Picture People I have ever had! Jesse adores Colleen and she can always get him to smile. We had a great time!

 Jesse's birthday present.

By the time we made it out of Picture People it was definitely lunch time. Jesse rode his "Zippy Scooter" through the mall while I pushed the stroller with all the stuff. And we headed to the van so we could go to Jesse's favorite restaurant, The Olive Garden. "Pasta with Brown" is what Jesse told the waitress he wanted for "dinner". She looked at me with the most puzzled look on her face. I laughed and said "He would like Spaghetti with red sauce for lunch.". LOL!  Jesse ate every last noodle on his plate and then asked for cake. So cake we had, chocolate cake of course! He ate about 90% of that slice of cake!

When we made it home and I was unbuckling him from the car seat, Jesse looks at me, hugs his new bear and says "mommy, i'm really tired, i want to take a nap.". Was that music to my ears or what! Because by this point I was completely exhausted! Jesse slept from 2 - 4 and I relaxed on the couch.

Just as Chuck and Zoey arrived home Jesse and I were going outside so he could ride his scooter and tricycle.

After dinner the whole family went down into the basement to clean out Jesse's toys.
